Artist’s Statement: Ceramic Sculpture
This body of work continues within the realm of the trickster. The trickster is a playful yet somewhat destructive character in all cultures. In folklore, the trickster is seen as both a creator and destroyer, whose lack behavior in various situations teaches, through catastrophe, practical and ethical social conduct. Within these ceramic sculptures the trickster jumps from one animal to another and breeds many types together. The trickster may morph from a rooster to a dog in a matter of seconds. Each of the sculptures holds its’ own story and own set of morals.
