Artist's Statement: Color and Design
For an art piece to be visually successful there are two crucial elements that must be addressed: color and design. In this body of work I focus purely on the composition – the placement of forms in space and their ability to move the eye across the page. I then enhance the design by my choice of the placement of the color. How one color makes another color or hue advance or recede is significant to how the design is ultimately viewed. There is a quiet satisfaction in creating an abstract composition that holds all of the principles of design configuring the gestalt of the work. I am satisfied when an image no longer is needed to complete an idea, but the shapes and colors themselves create resolve.
