In Fall 2017, the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Ceramic Students began the monumental task of making 275 tiles to re-create Picasso's painting of Guernica in clay. Students are working together to connect lines and shapes. They are studying Picasso's composition, subject and stylistic choices. There are technical challenges working with such a large scale piece and emotional challenges dealing with the subject matter that relates to the Spanish Civil War and how we relate to this subject matter today.
Jenn Brazelton and Roald Hartman's Ceramic and Sculpture classes joined in Spring 2018 to help with this installation project. We are excited to be working on this project and we are challenged daily. We will be very proud when it is installed on campus.
A special Thank you goes out to the ASOC who has generously given us money towards materials to make this project happen.
